What we do
Everything below happens in our own building in Leixlip, with the same vet from first appointment to follow-up. If you are not sure what your animal needs, phone us on (01) 4430890 and we will tell you straight.
Client to confirm which of these the practice offers, and which are referred on.
Consultations
Fifteen minutes with the vet, by appointment, mornings and evenings. Bring your questions written down if it helps — nobody minds.
Repeat consultation for the same problem €30
Vaccinations and boosters
Puppy and kitten courses, and yearly boosters for dogs, cats and rabbits. We will email you when the next one is due so it does not slip.
Cat annual booster €60
Puppy or kitten course €50 per visit
Kennel cough add-on €28
Neutering
Spaying and castration for dogs, cats and rabbits. Your animal comes in the morning and, in most cases, goes home the same afternoon. We ring you when they wake up.
Male dog from €220 · Female dog from €270, varies by size
Dentistry
Scale and polish under anaesthetic, extractions where a tooth cannot be saved, and honest advice about brushing. Bad breath is not just bad breath — it is usually pain.
Extractions quoted after examination
Microchipping
Legally required for dogs in Ireland and sensible for cats. It takes seconds, and we register the chip for you and check your details are right.
Parasite control
Worms, fleas and ticks, with a plan that suits where your animal actually goes — fields, beaches, other dogs, or just the back garden.
Annual cover from €12 a month
Diagnostics
Blood tests, urine tests, x-rays and ultrasound on site, so we can usually tell you what is going on the same day rather than sending you away to wait.
X-ray from €90 · Ultrasound from €110
Surgery
Routine and soft-tissue surgery in our own theatre, with monitoring throughout and a phone call as soon as your animal is round. Anything specialist, we refer and tell you why.
Senior pet care
Older dogs and cats slow down, but stiffness, weight loss and drinking more are not simply old age. A twice-yearly check catches the treatable things early.
Pet passports and travel
Rabies vaccination, tapeworm treatment and the certification needed to travel from Ireland. Start at least 4 weeks before you go — the timings are strict.
Plus vaccination and treatment costs as required
Prices last reviewed [month year]. Everything here is a guide — we quote in writing before any procedure, and we will always tell you what something costs before we do it.
Prices above are market benchmarks from published Irish clinic lists (Jan 2026), not the practice's own. Riverforest must confirm or replace every figure before launch — publishing a price the practice will not honour risks a Veterinary Council complaint. If the practice prefers not to publish, use "from" ranges, but keep consultation, vaccination and neutering visible.
Not sure it can wait?
Phone us during opening hours and describe what you are seeing. We would far rather look at your animal today than tell you afterwards we wish we had.
