Privacy policy
How Riverforest Veterinary Centre handles your personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts.
Who is responsible for your data
Riverforest Veterinary Centre is the data controller for your contact details. Your pet's clinical record is the practice's record; your name, address, phone and email are your personal data under GDPR.

What we collect
Through the forms on this website we collect only what you type into them:
If you become a client, these details become part of your client record alongside your pet's clinical record.
Why we use it, and on what legal basis
Who processes it for us
We use processors to run the practice: our practice management software, our website host, and Amazon Web Services (SES) to send email. Reminders and appointment confirmations are sent from mail.riverforestvets.ie; any news or offers from news.riverforestvets.ie.
Each processor handles data only on our instructions under a data processing agreement. We do not sell your details, and we do not share them with anyone else except where the law requires it.
How we record consent
When you tick a permission box on any form, we record the date and time, your IP address, the form and page you used, and the exact wording and version of the sentence you agreed to. We keep this consent log so we can show what was agreed, and we use it to honour withdrawals.
How long we keep it
Clinical records are kept for 1 year. Contact details are kept while you are a client and for 1 year after. Website form submissions are passed to the practice by email and are not kept on the web server longer than needed to deliver them.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, or delete your data, or withdraw consent, by emailing us or asking at reception. You can also ask for a copy of your data in a portable format, object to processing, or ask us to restrict it.
Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did with your data before you withdrew it. Unsubscribing from news never stops your pet's reminders. You turn reminders off per pet in your preferences or by telling reception.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, Ireland — dpc.ie.
Cookies
This website uses only technical cookies and storage needed to make pages and forms work. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, no analytics tags, and no third-party trackers.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page before the change takes effect. The version of the wording you agreed to is stored in our consent log.
